Marketing Package and then some!

Been doing a lot of pre-graduation prep lately. Things like revamping the website (www.shrimpgirl.net), getting my business cards and marketing package all set up, finishing a demo reel.
Phew.

I spent most of the last year working on a student game called Fig as the lead concept artist. I'm finally getting the some of the work I did for it all organized and set up for presentation (as I have a graduating portfolio to prep).
These versions aren't the final files I'll be using for my portfolio, but as I wanted to post these up anyway. This blog needs more love!The watermark you see is for Broken Mind Games, which is the company we created Fig under.

Holy crap. More than a year since my last post? I need to change that, and I will, once I get my files all set up again. Finally switched over to windows 7 and getting readjusted!
But that doesn't this will be an empty post! I'm finally working on Praesidium a bit more seriously, so here's the WIP for the first chapter cover!

Also finally "wrapped up" the year long student game project I was on. I'll post some of the concept art I did for that soon along with some other stuff. Really gonna aim for a weekly update schedule!

So, remember that WIP from the end of the last post? I wound up scrapping it fairly last minute to its due date and sketched out new poses for the characters. The original WIP was purely digital, this one started out with a pencil sketch. I really need to work on my control with a tablet, I think that's my biggest issue with working purely digital. Actually, I need to work on my control with a lot of things. I think it's part of why my original pencil sketches always look better than everything else. *adds to New Year's resolutions*
Decided to do some birthday art for a good friend of mine. The first was a failed attempt, wound up going with the second after I got fed up trying to fix the first. Both are pure digital, so starting pencil sketch on either. Need to do more thumbnailing and come up with more dynamic poses... Both were practice with cool colored lightning. Second could use more work with reflected light, though.

This was a gift I made for my dad. Decided to break out the sculpey I had laying around. Something fairly simple, an insence burner. I wonder if I made more of these if I could try selling them on Etsy or something. Hmmmm! Working on another birthday gift for a different friend. He likes mech stuff, so I did some thumbnailing for it. I liked these 2 the best, went with the second. A bit more fun to be had with it. Still should get in the habit of more thumbnailing. Fo' sho'

WIP for it. Wound up just blowing up the thumb to a larger size, and "inking" and fixing it. I'm debating using a more cell shaded approach to the color? Make it look more like an anime screen shot or something.
Break is almost over *sob* Don't feel I was quite as productive as I should have been... ah well.

Long time no post, I know D:
Here's a few WIPs and misc class projects from this last quarter~ Also gonna start cross posting these on LJ. I gotta stop being so lazy about this sort of thing :D;

Anyway~ some traditional style stuff I did. All 3 are pastel and colored pencil. Acrylics used for the white highlights. My scanner kills my traditional work... tried to fix it a little in photoshop, but still... ugh D:

Scooby Doo and Shaggy ;D This doubles as an Xmas gift for my younger sister~

Ugh, this one was so large I had to scan it in 4 pieces, and couldn't mesh them all together that well >: This one was pretty last minute, as I wound up scrapping the original the day before it was due and doing this one c_c;

This one seems to get a bit of attention... I do plan to go back and add something more to the mountains. Blah, the scan just makes it all look so... dirty D:

Sooo.... I meant to post yesterday, as I am attempting to make a post every Sunday from now on... but then I got distracted (*cough*a18*cough*) and forgot until I was already half asleep.

Aaaaanyway, let's see what I have for you fine folks.

I guess we'll start with some things from last quarter class work~

Storyboarding Final~ 42 panels drawn (took forever D:) and I then made them into a animatic movie with music and soundfx's using Adobe Premier pro. Fairly easy program to learn the basics of. Would have added a few more panels if I had had more time. Maybe I'll go back and do that over summer break...

One of my projects from digital imaging, and by far my favorite xD

Character and Object design crap... My design for the Prince in my Snow White in Ancient China redesign. The Lion guy was for an assignment where we chose keywords from a list to make a character design from. I had ancient African doctor lion... in case you couldn't read it in the image. :B And a self portrait as a Target villain. In that one, we had to make it as though the character could fit in the Batman animated series. I like how that one came out. :D

This is also from Character and Object design. Had to pick one ancient/extinct creature and mix it with a modern day one. So~ I did dynonichus (almost like a Velociraptor from Jurassic Park... geek level up!) mixed with a tiger. Rather happy with it. In fact, since I have sculpture this quarter, I said to myself... "Self, you should sculpt that as your midterm." And I replied, "You know, self, you haven't steered me wrong in a while... so sure!"

Killer Bees

Long time, no post, I know D:
This quarter has been pretty busy... and I'm just kinda lazy about scanning some stuff.
Been having a lot of fun with my character and object design class. Class is also making me feel pretty good about my skills. I'm one of the top 3 in my class. Same for my friend Jordan. We're kicking ass!
For today's class we were to design a futuristic, animal type race that was preparing for war. Our teacher said it was a throw down and we should treat it like we were competing for a job. Blue team had the best showing! And I would say I won, but that makes me feel egotistical... but it was either Jordan or I who did! Fo' sho'

Here is the bee race I created! A General and the Queen. Tried to make the general female, but looking at it again, raising the hips would have helped...

Today was my last day of class of my first quarter, so I decided I'd post a couple of my final projects~
Finished version of my perspective drawing. Scan is kinda light, and I could have gone darker in some of the shadows... but overall it came out well! Got an A :DA couple self portraits I did for my life drawing class. The one on the left was the one that was supposed to just a basic self portrait. Most people used photo referances... I just used a mirror on my desk +_+;
The one on the right was meant to represent something about ourselves. Mine is about how I never wanted to be the princess or the damsel in distress. I wanted to be the knight +_+! I mean, come on! They got to have armor, swords, capes... much more fun than a frilly dress!

Oh, and I figure I'll post this sketch I did for someone in one of my classes. He saw my DA page and asked if I would take a commission of his gaia avi:
Annnnnd that's it for now. 3 week vacation~ Hoping to get some things done, so wish me luck!

2004 and older!

By popular demand, I'm posting some of my older work that is actually in existance. I'll do this in parts! Starting with the oldest stuff. Most of the images will be sketches, line art I never colored, and the like. I probably won't be posting anything that you can't already find on my deviantart page! This first group of images are all from 2004 or older. Some have dates, but I've lost the original sketchbooks they were in, so I don't know know the dates on all of them...

I think this was my first piece of RO fanart... ever... drawn for my friend Adhe! He was the first person I met on RO, and this is of his battle aco with my (then aco) Rosa and my (then swordy) VMegami!

Was trying to do another Aegis group picture. Our guild was so large at the time that I planned to do it in groups. I tried to pick groups by who knew each other in what ways, etc. Only finished the first group. D: It has PI, Ysu (as a girl!), Ippo, Fried, and someone I only knew briefly as Kuu.

So... I'm thinking perhaps I'll use this place as a sketch/art blog...! One of my friends keeps telling me I should, so I guess I'll use this space to post sketches, WIP, and other misc things I might not post on DA.

With that said heres a few of my latest things:

This was an assignment for my drawing and perspective class. The teacher said it looked like I crossed Mayan and Minoan influences into it. I wound up fixing some the shadows and details after I scanned it, but I don't feel like scanning again. :(
